96 CHAMP Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Well we did a bit of fishing today and it wasn't fun, we caught 2 nice smallies, never measured them but I expected them to be 17" the wind is terrible, went back to cabin at about 1:00, going to try this evening again, Ned rig and grub, they are being tricky again with the wobble head when I can find areas when the wind isn't howling, days like this are tough for those that venture out but could also be rewarding. I caught some very nice fish late yesterday evening and after dark for a bit, sorry for no pics except for 1smallie. Seen one other nut out there besides us!! dan hufferd, Donna G, crazy4fishin and 2 others 5
Champ188 Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Way to stay with it, brother. I'm back tomorrow. Probably Baxter.
96 CHAMP Posted March 28, 2016 Author Posted March 28, 2016 I caught 5 keepers today, 4 this evening, keep on wobbleing. I always find it amazing how they can grab a bait, come toward the boat and be so darn hard to tell they have it. You really have to pay attention and hope it all works out. Going to fish for a bit tomorrow and then head back, All the banks I caught fish on have one thing in common, the type of rock in picture. Good luck to you Champ in the tournament next weekend, I'll send some good juju your way. magicwormman, merc1997 Bo, Champ188 and 5 others 8
Pepe Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Thanks for the report. We are hustling to get our work done so we can get back to the lake. Do you mind telling us what plastic you are putting on the wobble head? 96 CHAMP 1
dtrs5kprs Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Mmmm...a nice mixed rock bank with a little taper. Now I'm getting antsy. 96 CHAMP 1
Champ188 Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Thanks much, 96 Champ. Glad you guys persevered through the weather change and caught some nice ones. That spot in the middle pic is a dandy. Good tip on the bank structure. 96 CHAMP 1
m&m Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 96Champ, thanks for the information. Great pictures. Mike 96 CHAMP 1
Macsimus Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Thanks for the great info. The water looks quite a bit clearer than what I'm seeing down here around Cow Creek, especially in that last picture. "There was a time that I didn't fish, but I cannot remember it."
96 CHAMP Posted March 29, 2016 Author Posted March 29, 2016 Went back out this morning after the fog cleared and started to throw a jig, gave that up and went back to the wobble head and caught 3 more nice keepers including this nice smallmouth, stayed out till one and had to go back for the long drive home. Good luck to everyone. Pepe, I have been using a flapping hog, bifflebug & a D bomb junior Champ188, Quillback and magicwormman 3
