Nitro 750 Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Thanks Bigmo for the report. Sure is a lot of fun catching them whites!!!!!
Fish24/7 Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 I used the strike king rage blaster in white. If you guys haven't tried one you're missing out. They're great to throw in schools of bass. They throw pretty far and have a greet swimming action. Not so great for jigging though. Know a dude who makes something similar to this but it jigs a lot better mixermarkb 1
abkeenan Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Heck, sometimes I throw a 1/8oz head. That's only when you are on an adrenaline high after a Duke win and you're all pumped up. Fishing over your (ned)head.
mjk86 Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Never thought about throwing the plopper at whites. That could be crazy. Treble hooks will screw you bad when the whites are going imo, especially a bait with 2 sets of trebles. You'll spend more time digging hooks out of fish then fishing. A single hook bait like a spoon (nunguesser spoon is perfect if you can find them) is more efficient when the catching is good. Just grab and shake the spoon over the water, the fish wil fall off and your back to casting in 2 seconds. Your knuckles will get all cut up from the scales/spines. Totally worth it.

Bigmo Posted March 31, 2016 Author Posted March 31, 2016 rps, I'll give the blade a few more chances jigging. Do you swing yours to give it more action when you're vertically jigging? mjk, i like the looks of that spoon. From what i can find online they don't come heavier than maybe a1/4 oz. What oz.do you throw? It can't hurt to have 3 different spoons to throw in a school of green or white bass. Steve

You can throw them a good long ways though, i use a ML power, mod fast spinning rod spooled with 10/2 braid (6# mono sometimes too). I do wish there was a larger one though. They are def not jigging spoons, more of a cast, count, and slow swim back spoon. They are super versatile, and sink slowly, schooling fish will fight over it. When i was little my dad/grandad/and uncle would take me out trolling with them on stockton and table rock, they would troll old bombers/hellbenders/waterdogs on 3 way swivels with that spoon as a secondary bait. It was a cool set up, but giant tangles were inevitable....4 rods, 8 baits, 4 probably way too drunk to be operating a boat old men, and me. Sometimes youd pull that mess through a good school and end up with 3 or 4 doubles at once.
