Launched at 7:30am and fished til 3:00.  Water color is looking pretty good. Water temps 58 to 60. Very slight breeze.  Purchased a new Pflueger spinning combo last night due to me loosing my Shimano up the James.  Decided to throw the Ned all day. Started out throwing 20 degree banks in 10 FOW and fan casting to locate fish. After a few casts I had them dialed in. The majority of the K's came on chunk rock banks from 1' to 8' of water with the biggest being 3.2 lbs.  Pulled up on a point and caught 7 smallies all in the 13" range.  After catching over 30 fish, and getting a little bored, I decided to try for some toothy critters trolling a #7 Flicker Shad.  Kept the boat in 15 to 18 FOW.  Within the first 100 yards I had landed 4 K's between 12" and 17".  Shot across to a long gravel point and instantly felt the tug of a nice fish. Had about 100' of line out. Looking back as I reeled in I seen a nice bass go airborn. Stood up and watched her air show 1/2 dozen times before I got her to the boat. No phone to take pictures so I stuck her on my digital scale.  5.42 pounds.  Stuck her in the livewell along with the 3.2 to tak pictures once I got back to the truck.  Continued trolling for another hour catching several more K's and smallies in that 15' to 20' of water.

What this trip showed me was that there are lots of fish still in that deeper water. I was surprised at the number of bass I caught trolling. Never caught anything but bass.  After getting to the truck, I realized I must have left my phone at home.  Released fish and headed home.  Very productive day.

K, sounds like a very good day. I'm gonna remember your quote, "After catching about 30 fish and getting bored...." You may see me post that as a reply to you in the future as a reminder. Lol

Agreed. I'd rather be bored catching fish right now than bored at home sorting tackle and waiting for hockey and baseball to start tonight.

Thanks guys. I was one of my better outings as far as numbers and quality. Love this time of year.

Haha m&m.... I'm sure on my next skunked day of fishing I will regret those words.

Cheese, between spending last week on Grand, and TR on a free day today. I haven't had a chance to get to Taney. Tomorrow my plan is to try my luck, BUT, it's hard to not fish TR when the Aunts Creek area is producing good fish now.  Guess I will decide when I hook the boat up in the morning.

Marcus, if ya need any current info, I will help out as much as possible.

Its a a great time to be on the water guys.  Hope everyone makes the best of it and catches some nice fish.
