The Birds

Got to spend a little time out of the office yesterday driving around with a fishing rod and a camera. I think I caught more with the camera than the rod but it was still a good time. I rarely take pictures of birds. They usually just aren't that interesting to me. But I found a couple of subjects yesterday that entertained me.

This first guy spent quite a bit of time running up and down this log trying not to get washed off of it. He was constantly on the move from one end to the other. Not sure what the point was, but he entertained me while I sat in the car eating breakfast.

 

After he finally gave up on his task I started fishing. I was fairly close to my car the entire time and could occasional hear a tapping sound. I thought it was coming from my car but nothing was ever there. Well I went back to change rods and found the source of the noise. Apparently there was a cardinal war going on. It was quite a battle and apparently there was a victor. Of course he was fighting with his reflection in the mirror but still entertaining to watch.

 

My presence was not appreciated so he retreated to a tree to complain.
