My cholesterol was high a couple years ago so I went on Atkins. I ate tons of eggs, bacon, meats, cheese and lots of salads. I lost about 25 lbs and my cholesterol dropped considerably. It works, but if you quit doing it your weight will come back quickly.

Went on this diet when i was 18 years old and lost 80 pounds in like 10 weeks..went from 240 to 160 pounds from a 42 waist to a 32 waist..lost the weight to fast...of coarse i was a full time student and working 40 hours a week also.

I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything!

Blood sugar's been high, so low-carbing it recently before my next diabetes check-up gets me in trouble with the doc.  I think the British eat fish for breakfast, so I'm thinking I can, too.  hehe  Let's fire off one of those OMG!!! threads - guess what species of fish Donna G had for breakfast this morning.  And, where should I go to restock?  We'll be at TR tomorrow. ;)

Tilapia.

you need to take a trip to falcon and trade one of the mexican netters out of some.  we did that on one trip down there.  i had never eaten tilapia and one of the local was emptying his net, and we trolled over and did some trading with him.  they were very tasty for supper.  of course i rolled them in cornmeal and fried them and they were very similar to the taste of perch.

I wont eat store bought fish....yuck.....after living by the Gulf of Mexico and eating fresh caught fish for years store bought fish just dont taste good...been frozen and thawed to many times before it gets to the store.

No doubt.  Don't blame you, but other than the occasional freshwater fish, I don't have much to compare it to, so it was pretty good to me.  ;)

Donna I live with 2 diabetics and cook for them regularly. We've been trying to limit our fried food intake so I baked some bluegill fillets. Lined the bottom of a 9x13 cake pan with foil, then the  added the fish.  I used  a 1/2 stick of butter cut into little chunks and put them  on top of the fillets.Added a medium sliced onion ,1 sliced lemon, s&p and a pinch of greek seasoning. Covered pan with foil and baked at 400 for about 30 minutes. We ate the whole pan,lol

That sounds good!

For every person who doesn't like any kind of fish there are guys like me who basically like all fish.  Some more than others, but fresh, frozen caught by me, store bought salt or fresh I like them all, though spoonbill and sturgeon are very close to if not on the bottom the list. Since I consider myself a conniseur of fish, I would be willing to taste it for you and render my opinion.  If not too much trouble some fried taters, fresh greens or other side dish would be nice but not required.

Oh, yes.  Fresh greens, please, and lots of them.  :P  Used to attend a country church in Hot Springs (AR) where one of the little matriarchs of the church, Miss Z,  would bring a giant pot of fresh collard greens to potlucks.  When everyone was in the pie line later, I was ladling up another bowl of greens.

When I lived in WA State, I smoked some of the salmon I caught.  Linguine with a smoked salmon Alfredo sauce is another good one.

Phil Lilley smoked some salmon at an OAF derby a few years ago.  Oh, my, my.  I couldn't get enough.  It was really good.  I'm a born-and-raised inland girl and I don't know that I had ever eaten salmon except at Furr's Cafeteria in Texas.  lol

i would have guessed wrong.....looks too narrow and thick to be tilapia. I was going to say swai.  I've been buying swai a lot.   I think it's really good fried or baked.

sure would love to have some fresh walleye fillets though...nothing better!

Yeah, swai is good. Pretty cheap too.
