cheesemaster Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Lost my telescopic plug knocker last weekend so I am looking to replace it with something new. I liked it but it was a little cumbersome in the wind by yourself. Anything out there that is great?
Unimog Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 In my experience that kind works the best. I have a daiwa one on a retractable dog leash I try first because it's handier but on the occasion that doesn't work I get the telescoping pole out. cheesemaster and shark bait 2
fishinwrench Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 I've had the same Hound Dawg on a 25' heavy cord for like 25 years. That thing has saved me a ton of money in deep cranks, jerkbaits, and jigs. Using it is a skill in itself that takes awhile to learn, but after using it as long as I have I can go in and snatch a bait off a snag with it in about 30 seconds tops. The only time it doesn't work is if I snag an old ski rope or a trot line. cheesemaster 1

nomolites Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 I have the Hound Dawg that I upfitted with 60' of heavy trot line cord(I troll and routinely hang up below 30') and I can recover my cranks in almost any snag. The cheesy line it came with did not cut the mustard. Mike cheesemaster and Ham 2
Sore Thumbs Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 I have a short piece of broken rod with one guide showing, Round bail reel and 65 lb braid with the Hound dawg. It works awesome. Champ188 and cheesemaster 2
Bass Enforcer Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 A one ounce weight with a snap swivel zip tied to it. Clip on your line, let it sink to your lure , shake it and that's it. I've used it a ton. They fit in your pocket, simple to use and best part of all, they are cheap. Less than 50 cents. Bad thing is they don't work real well on a crank bait. Great for jigs, shakey heads etc. cheesemaster 1

Members Nimrod Nick Posted June 6, 2016 Members Posted June 6, 2016 I like the telescope pole, but its always in the way. At Stockton my partner and I had a hot spot but kept getting hung up and lost our lure retrievers on the spot. Then one day found out a ****** guy had sunk bed springs and tied a big rope to it and retrieve lures, ect. From the bed springs...good grief. It must have been good bass cover because we caught many from around it and also lost many baits. cheesemaster 1
