Members Nimrod Nick Posted June 12, 2016 Members Posted June 12, 2016 The large 4" flutter spoons are the rage now days, and I get it big spoon big bass! I have a vintage Reaper spoon by Marlynn lure co., stamped on the spoon. It is 2 1/4" long x 3/4oz. A thick compact flutter spoon, that I would like to have some more of. I have another spoon just like it, but brand unknown and it has a diamond pattern on it. Anyone know where to find any. I did find the reaper spoon on eBay, but they must have sold. Bps makes a new spoon called flashy times spoon, 2 1/2" x 3/4oz. I will go look at. Anyone try these yet. Thanks for any spoon info.

fishinwrench Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 The ones being used up here are bigger than 4", they are almost 3" wide and 6" long. The same fish that are hitting those things will hit a heavy jig with a flapping trailer or a 10" worm stroked more readily (and actually EAT IT) so I guess I really don't see the point of all this spoon fascination.
Hammer time Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Imo, with the shad spawn and water temperatures rising there is a good spoon bite. Like you I like dragging a 5/8 oz fb jig in same area. But I have witnessed a buddy kill me with a spoon. Seems like they want that spoon over jig at times.
Members BearFisher10 Posted June 12, 2016 Members Posted June 12, 2016 Check out a Dixie Jet spoon. They sound similar to the size you're talking about. They come in a couple different weights and also colors. If you're in the Springfield area, go check out Sportsman's/Lew's. They usually have an assortment of them in stock. I've fished those real big spoons between 6 and 8 inches on Tennessee River lakes a handful of times in the last year, but not here on Table Rock. The 6 inch one will catch fish around here but I haven't tried the 8 inch here. I don't know if I ever will either. To me it doesn't seem like a reliable bite for our fish. Yeah our fish can be temperamental, but not like they are on the Tennessee River where those gargantuan spoons were designed to be fished.
Members lollygagger Posted June 13, 2016 Members Posted June 13, 2016 The one with the diamond pattern might be made by Len Thompson of Alberta Canada. The 5 of Diamonds yellow and red is a fantastic pike lure in Canada.
dan hufferd Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 I haven't tried a flutter spoon, but I do throw a jigging spoon a lot, and love it. I might try the flutter spoon some time. I will be watching this post to see how it develops. Thanks.
dtrs5kprs Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Jet would be pretty close. Lure Parts Online has some thick little spoons that I use, but 1/2 not 3/4. Your diamond spoon might be an old Strike King. They made some diamond spoons along with all their diamond blades.
Old plug Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 The Divie jet is a old timer and there are a lot more spoons out there that flutter better. I only used a Dixie jet for bottom bumping a spoon
