I am not seeing that thermocline, not that I doubt anyone else.  And if there is one, it must be some kind of weird inverted one, because the fish are below it, assuming it is 15 feet or less.

I have friends that dive. I'm told the thermocline is about 27 foot at BSL.

Doing a bit of reading on Thermocline.  It looks like it is possible for there to be a thermocline, but yet below the level of the thermocline still be enough dissolved oxygen to support fish.  At lest early when the thermocline first sets up.  So maybe the cline is setting up right now, but there's still enough DO for fish to live below it, at least temporarily before the DO becomes depleted below the cline as the summer progresses.

It's there where you are fishing, but way shallower than you are thinking.  Look for it starting at the 15' range, really similar to what they are finding up the James.  I can see it with the graph set at 70%, and can knock it out at anything less. I have a new transducer that is hot as a fire cracker.  It is not real hard but is visible from 15' to 22' and very easy to see.

Also let me point out here that the White River arm above Twin Rivers fishes very different than the majority of Table Rock Lake.  It fishes much more river like.  The fish up the White especially when you get above Viney will stay much shallower and will acclimate to the warmer temperatures.  There are different games at play up there with the water release from Beaver providing a much cooler  water movement from the dam it will not only help with O2, but keeps that water cooler higher in the water column.

I'm up there  tomorrow and will let you know in as much detail as I can muster what I find.

I've heard (or read) that transducers weaken over time but engineers tell me not so.  The crystals either work or they don't.  Have you guys experienced transducers that seem to weaken over time/use.

Thanks

yes, they sure do weaken.  you will notice they change by having to turn up the gain more than usual.  marine repair center can check the one you have.  at least, they used to.  george had a water filled tube and would measure how many times your unit would double the reading at a certain percent of gain.  anyway, if you are having to turn the gain way up to see anything in 20 ft. of water, you most likely need a new transducer.

Bo nailed it.  Us deep water Lookie Lou's can tell a bad transducer just about as quick as we can tell if you forgot to put the sugar in the lemonade.  It is simply amazing the difference you can see with a new one.  I personally never let mine ripen over about a year.  I don't think Beck waits that long.  His is always bright and shoots a perfect pic.

Made a trip to Diamond City last weekend to dive and the thermocline was right around 20'. Made a quick recovery dive in the dam area on Table Rock this evening and the water was warm all the way to 20'. Didn't have a wetsuit on, so we didn't venture out to far, but it was getting cooler right past the 20' mark.

They were in the mid lake area last weekend, but who knows.

I was on Table Rock tonight. I'd say your dive buddies are right about the 27' in the mid-lake area on BSL.
