I guess this is really a question for Dave or any other ned enthusiast. But how do you fish a ned rig in current (stream, river, creek, etc)?

cast upstream and let it drift toward you, and you have to experiment with head weight. the fish in current are use to their prey not always siting still. of course this is just my opinion

I guess it depends on how much current, but before I knew it was  Ned rig we would fish slower current just like a normal Ned rig on the lake, with enough weight to keep it on bottom.  In swifter current areas usually the same weight that would hold in a very slow current would let it tumble or float downstream if you lifted it up.  Sometimes you could float/roll one that way into places you couldn't cast to, resulting in some very nice fish, didn't always get them out of their fortress but sure is fun to try.

I fished a Ned last week in very thick current. The biggest  key I found was fishing  the little guy in the appropriate cfs. In slack water areas I had not even a bite or in areas  where it was flowing very fast I caught a few but, in just the right flow with a small depression by a ripple it was on like Donkey Kong. It actually  got to the point where I altered the worm itself and quit cutting  them in half in an attempt  to cut down on all the dinks I was catching  from 8 to 12 inches.

In one area of water which was basically one medium  length  hole but the right flow....I caught 68 fish in about a 80 yard stretch and I was pulling  the bait from the dinks at that point....if you like action it's a great bait. Here  are a few Ned fish from last week but, the true hawgs came on a Mitch Craw and topwater :)

I fished the Ned where I basically maintain  line contact and just let current  flow that little guy downstream. Look and feel for weight on you line and then give a quick little trout hookset and yer in the money baby.

Some of my friends  are unfortunately  bait fisherman  where I was last week and they liked the Ned better than minnows and  that's  saying  something :)

All great advice, throwing into the current is the best advice for any jig,and slack water I think.   I have caught small mouth on a fast retrieve, thinking that I was out of the zone, reeling in for the next cast. I use a cheap walmart 1/8oz  jig and half of a strikeking zero it works great.

Here is one trick...If you see some slack water on the other side of the creek throw over the current while holding your rod high, just let the jig fall in the slower water, as your line touches the current it will pull the jig (ned) out into the faster water, many times they will pick it up.

Nice fish pic's above
