Old plug Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Do not go so far as to think all you need is the right light and viola your going to really clean up. Because I will not happen.
Old plug Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Docks to me are sort of like a giant Lilly pad. The wter they recovering is surprisingly cooler thn tht round it even in very hot Wether. Even in shallow water. It is amazing how close you can get to hose fish under dock without poking them.
mreed81 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 These are kind of on the expensive side but they are an industry leading company. Drop the light in, and it lands upright every single time. Only maintenance is to clean algae off of them. The owner of the company actually is my uncle's neighbor in St. Petersburg, FL. Everyone in their cove has these lights and it makes great for Snook fishing. Green seems to attract more fish than the other colors. https://www.deepglow.com/
bobby b. Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 Finally got this made, 300 of the 5050 LEDs, very bright, first one cost about $40, additional ones (if I make more) would cost about $30. Sank it in the dock slip to about 20 feet, no leaks so far. merc1997 Bo and Daryk Campbell Sr 2

I did not fish but rather just checked out the light. I could see the black rubber paint on the ends as it moved in the current. My dock slip is located at the extreme north end of North Indian Creek.
Members Bozinsek Posted August 15, 2016 Members Posted August 15, 2016 What type and how many feet of cord did you use? Also did you use some type of sealtite connector for the top plug? Weight??

Here is my material list - hope this helps. 2 ft clear PVC tube (from Amazon) Two 1.5 inch threaded end caps, fitted to insert into each end of the PVC tube (Cut center of end caps with 15/16 inch wood bit and 1/2 inch steel bit and then use round file to expand to 3/4 inch. - this is needed in order because PG11 Gland thread length is too short.) PG 11 Gland (from Amazon) BINZET DC12V 5M 300LED 5050SMD Green LED Light Strip Waterproof LED Light Tape Lamp 5050 Bright Single Color Strip Light (from Amazon) 3/4 inch PVC pipe with a coupler on either end - total length is 23 5/8 inches 1/2 inch conduit (21 inch long which will fit inside the 3/4 PVC pipe) Two 10 oz lead weights melted into the 1/2 inch conduit - total weight of lead and conduit is 24 oz. (24 oz is overkill, I've read 10 oz is enough) Rubber stopper (glued into the top of the 3/4 inch PVC to assure weighted conduit is separated from electrical connections) 16 gage 25 ft extension cord from Walmart E6000 adhesive Rust Oleum Leak Seal sprayed over end caps (this may be overkill but I wanted to assure no leaks) Bozinsek 1
Members Bozinsek Posted August 16, 2016 Members Posted August 16, 2016 Sounds like a great afternoon project. Even if it doesn't catch fish, the grandkids will enjoy it while swimming off the dock! Thanks for the material list.
