Ben Gillispie Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Hey guys, My website and access to the realtime temperatures readings (on the 15's of every hour) and twice-daily clarity images are now completely free of charge, and will remain that way indefinitely. You must register, but registration is free, just like OAF. I am taking my time perfecting the design of the actual unit, so that they can be built and configured in a manner that will allow me to easily ship them to a marina, and they can easily install it themselves...essentially 'standardizing' the units. Below are all the units reporting. CAPE FAIR unit has camera issue, but temperatures are accurate. terryj1024, Muddy Water, magicwormman and 4 others 7
merc1997 Bo Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 thanks ben. easy to see why the thermocline is not very deep. i thought i could see six discs in one of the photos. the O2 levels must be adequate on the lower end and several depth since i saw shad balls at 40 feet. bo Ben Gillispie 1

I had heard of the DO issue in the James River arm. I've designed these newer units I'm working on so that I can send out dissolved oxygen sensors down the road, and they can be added to the existing units. Lots of stuff on my 'to do later' list. Those little DO sensors pack a big price tag lol.

If anyone knows sponsors who are shopping for exposure, send them my way. This service will be full of eyeballs as I make this push to continue expanding coverage and improving the interface. Ad revenue & affiliate marketing! You might have upfront cost now but if you can get web traffic and sell/ad space, or trade ad space to marinas for them to cover part of the cost of deployment you might be able to scale/deploy faster vs. using only your own money. If you can generate enough traffic and ad revenue for return you would have a very deploy-able package for future lakes (more traffic/more revenue). Good luck! merc1997 Bo and Ben Gillispie 2
vernon Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Thanks Ben. A service like this for free seems pretty exceptional to me and I, for one, greatly appreciate you providing it to all of us. I sincerely hope it becomes a profit generator for you somewhere down the road no matter how you decide to market the concept. So much effort, energy and creativity should be worth something if you ask me. After all, it's not like you're an artist or something! Thanks again.
