MOPanfisher Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Been 500 cfs since Tues. Flysmallie is correct, don't try to fish Pomme like you would fish Stockton, completely different creatures. dan hufferd 1

Go up on Friday after work and go home late Sunday. Almost every week for several years. I learned two very important things about the fish in that lake. 1. They relate to spots very well. The best spots might be a small point or a spot the size of a car. There are two spots I found over the years that would always produce a keeper. I spent a lot of late tournament hours running to one or the other or both. Always a keeper hooked, not always landed. 2. Those fish like shallow water spinnerbaits. It does no matter what time of the year either. Once in a tournament in July. Burning a spinnerbait as fast as you could in water no more that 3 or 4 foot deep. 1st place easily. Another time in November just fishing with a buddy. It was 28 degrees and sleeting when we hit the water. I think the water temp was 44. Again burning spinnerbaits right off the bank and they would nail it. We had 20+ keepers that day. Those fish just like to be shallow. Reminded me of the ponds I grew up fishing in Oklahoma. Maybe that's why it clicked. It's a great lake. Don't give up on it. Johnsfolly 1
hillbillyflyshack Posted August 2, 2016 Author Posted August 2, 2016 Flysmallie thank you so very much for the info just wish I had heard from you before we went to Pomme but never fear I will be back she is a beautiful lady just need to work a little harder before she gives up her favors. MOPanfisher Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Pomme is the "good girl" you have to get to know and make a commitment to before she gives it up. Come back this fall and crappie will be happening and if the white bass return is as strong as it appears it can be tough to get a white jig past them to catch a crappie. Last fall when I was finally allowed to go back to fishing the little whites were like roving schools of piranah.
jim m Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 the one thing I don't like about pomme is those little muskies can destroy a spinner bait LOL
MOPanfisher Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 think the little ones are bad, throw a $10 or more crankbait and see what the big ones will do to it, usually you don't get to see the result, just tie a new one on a cuss a little. We used to wade around the back ends of coves that were open to the south, picking up lures, the amount of wiggle warts and such we found that looked like they have been chewed on were amazing.
jim m Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 the only good muskie is one in northern waters LOL luckycraft 1

Ranger520vx Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Have to agree with you Jim they are nasty slimy lure stealing critters. Lol
