I thought you preached Power Pro

Only on spinning tackle...and I'm now using spinning tackle less than 5% of the time.  Although I am experimenting with PP on one baitcaster that I'm trying with jigs and soft jerkbaits.

Ive switched to Suffix 832 on all Spinning and Baitcasters. It has some pros and cons vs mono but I find the pros far outweigh the cons.

Use the 832 on warm weather spin rigs. 8-12lb mono on my casters. Power pro is not as good as 832, usually use the thinnest one. 6lb with a leader. Way stronger than 6lb. Buddy has landed several 80-100lb tarpon on the 6lb with a 30-60lb bite tippet. Super thin for distance but needs a leader.

I was curious as to why you and Chief prefer The 832 over PowerPro??

I value both of your opinions  on this and am using  PowerPro

6lb will cut your hand before it breaks. Wrap around a thick stick and pull straight till the leader knot breaks. Don't use your digits!

I find it to be much smoother in operation for lack of a better term. To me it's softer, as in not as stiff like wire, than PP.  After a day it will be as limp as any mono but like Gavin stated, you can loose a digit!

It is tough! I use a 4lb dia 10lb test on my spinning rods and a 6 lb dia 20lb test on baitcasters. You can actually stop your canoe in a riffle without it coming even close to breaking.  It is severely underrated strength wise. And again it operates as smooth or smother than any line on the market. It will last for ever too. Easily 2-3 years and you'll only change out a few yards because it had lost its color and near white. But still every bit as strong as the day you spooled it on.

Really  so you find it to be more subtle and softer than PP???

I have friends  who just hate braid but, I have to be honest  the more I use the more I like it.

Do you use a mono or flurocarbon leader??

I just  can't say enough good things about braid on a spinning reel and when I am chasing  Whites and Hybrids and need to be making  the longest  cast possible it just can't be beat IMO.

I guess  I'm gonna  pick up some 832 :)

I must admit it is nice to have line spooled on your reel that you know is more than likely not gonna break. When I am doing  serious jungle fishing  here on the Mississippi  and Missouri  river it's  pretty much a prerequisite.

I have fished PP and 832. I saw no real advantages to 832. I have used the low diameter stuff like 4 lb, 6 lb, 8, lb diameter. I have not used the 832 in 50 plus break strength.

I didn't see the 832 as being any worse than Power Pro either. I had to try it for myself, but I didn't gain anything for my expenditure.

I've tried two spools of PP. I've hated it both times. Personal results may vary though.

I'll never go back to mono or any like product. And no I dont use a leader. I've wondered if I'm maybe not maximizing my numbers on a given trip because of that but 1, I don't think the fish are that advanced 2, I'm still staying plenty busy enough.

I haven't seen a noticeable increase or decrease in numbers. But I have noticed a massive decline in break offs and reties due to wear.

I have no intentions of going back to mono of any kind either.  I am quite happy with braid, (fireline on BC, and Nanofil on spinners).  I have tried several time to use a leader on the nanofil and for the life of me I cannot get a knot to hold, has cost me a couple lures, so I now just tie directly to the lure/jig.
