rps Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 I fished this morning from 5:30 AM until the heat and sanity overcame me. That was around 11. Water temp was 88. Fished 3 proven locations and one experiment. I caught one keeper walleye, bass, and a crappie. The best part of the trip was meeting Dan Hufferd face to face. I like being able to put a face with a name. The one keeper was hanging out in brush in 30 feet of water near the mouth of Rock Creek. Be careful out there. Champ188, huntest, 96 CHAMP and 2 others 5
SplitG2 Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 To answer your question, passionate and fortunate. You had enough sense to leave at a decent time, so not crazy. Glad to hear guys from the board are connecting in person.
merc1997 Bo Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 do you want to plead insanity? the heat is pretty brutal. let toby out around 9:30 and it felt like i opened the door on the oven with on at 350. were you trolling or casting or combination of both? do you feel that walleye generally stay a touch deeper than a bass, or do think they stay pretty much at the same levels? bo rps 1

I jigged a spoon in several good locations where I marked fish, but nothing cooperated. In hot water, I find the walleye deeper than bass UNLESS the thermocline is rock solid and shallow. terryj1024 1

Quillback Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 It brings to mind that saying about the only things out in the heat of the mid day sun are mad dogs and Englishmen. huntest 1
Tanderson15 Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 I would blame the new boat that keeps calling you from the slip, you know they always tempt you. Talk to it a little more and maybe the Lund will understand. Hope you are enjoying your boat and a few hours in the morning does not make you crazy at least not much. rps and big c 2
Pepe Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Lily & I worked like crazy this past week, had a great weekend with family and planned to come to the lake tomorrow. It sounds like we will be fishing and swimming in bath temperature water. But I suppose that is why God gave us ice-cubes to use in our boat drinks?

Enjoy the first 3 hours and the fact that the number of idiots is much lower during the week. I have a fasting blood test Monday early and a wellness visit on Tuesday. I will be out Wednesday.
