Question: My motor, an ETEC, has a trim switch on the motor itself as well as at the throttle. Is this not so for other companies?

Oh, and congrats on the new 521, Vernon. That's as good as it gets.

Vernon,

$70,000 on a 521?  They only quoted me $69,300.  No PFD's, but not $70,000 either!!!! RockChalk by the way. Spent many semi-lucent Saturday mornings at Naismith, Oliver, Ellsworth and some studying as a student. $85 for student season tickets to Basketball and Football when I went.  Yes, KU had/has a football team for those who didn't know.  Bought two Mustangs last night after reading your post.  Now if I can just get my wife to fish with me again. Will have a new 521 before I retire. Was down there a month ago watching them build one. They're nice.  Congrats.

Yeah, but I bought mine in March before the 2017's came out. They must be quoting you the model year old "clearance" prices!

Glad to see another Jayhawk among this den of deranged kitty cats and slimy ol' pigs!  Did I really just say that?

I started my less than illustrious KU basketball career in the fall of 1971.  I don't remember what the ticket prices were as that was a "perk" for us at the time.  No new cars, cash payments or total cost of attendance benefits that I can recall.  In fact, I thought I was in heaven when they issued me TWO pair of SUEDE Converse All Stars on the first day of practice.  Talk about times changing.  And in only a "mere" 45 years!  People look at me like I'm nuts when I tell them that Allen Fieldhouse had a dirt floor back then (they hosted the Big 8 indoor track and field meet at the time) but that's the truth.  Had the raised portable basketball floor with a ten foot high net all the way around it to keep balls from bouncing all over the place during practice.  Man, that was a long time ago.

Anyways, you might have got a good deal on the Mustangs but now you still need to go out and buy a boat!  Too much shopping around for me.  I prefer the one stop method.  Well worth the additional $69300 if you ask me.  Our new Z521 was actually a retirement present to myself so in my  mind you've go the right idea.

Not to drift too far off here but the new boat is absolutely awesome.  It's replaced a 2004 520VX that was pretty dang good too (and unfortunately I still have - never really wanted to be a two boat family but here I am).  The prices are ridiculous but I'm pretty sure I said that back in 1980 when I bought my first Ranger too.  And again the other eight times I've bought one.  It just is what it is.  You can play or not I guess.

We stopped by the factory a couple of weeks ago ourselves just to say "hi".  We were spending my wife's birthday at Bill and Becky's fantastic White River Lodge and got a day of bad weather so took a little road trip over there.  I love the smell of fiberglass in the morning!

Rock Chalk!

Wow. At least I got a jacket and three GLX's when I bought my barge. You just made it feel like a bargain.

Before you go to bragging too much here you must have forgotten that we bought our 2004's just a couple of weeks apart so I also cashed in big time on that ginormous give away as well!  I know a great deal when I see one and seldom let them pass me by!

In fact, we also got a free extra SS prop from Mercury as I recall.  I feel like a multi lotto winner here (just without the millions! )

My Yamaha HPDI has a trim switch on the motor also. I think Merc does also.  Most outboards 115 hp and up have them I believe.

Same for my merc setup, and there is an additional trim switch at the bow.

Thanks Champ.  We absolutely love it.  Was fully prepared to ride off into the sunset with our 2004 520 but decided in March that, what the heck, who wants to be buried in a 12 year old boat?  I know that many will rightfully disagree with me (based on their belief's which is fine) but for an old guy like me, the feeling of happiness and satisfaction that comes with that new boat is a bargain at twice the price!  No buyer's remorse here.

Even though, like you and Donna, we're mostly playing golf this time of the year, I still go out in the garage and drool on it at least once a day!  I enjoy just sitting there messing with the electronics or re-spooling reels thinking about September and October.

And it WILL look dang good on the way to the cemetery!

Thanks again.
