jim m Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 when the bite is extremely slow [which is usually when I go] and the fish won't hit a power bait what is your go to bait. should add bass fishing. mine is a tube, I will varry the rate of fall and retrieve and if that fails, well just enjoy the time on the water

Ketchup Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 I like a tube also. Usually fish it with a 1/4 ounce head inserted. So many way to work that bait. Any color usually does well, as long as it's green. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
MOPanfisher Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Switch to crappie fishing, you might not catch any crappie but the darn bass just can't leave the little jig alone.

fishinwrench Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Depends on the season and the water color. That tube isn't gonna be any good if it's muddy. And slowing down has never worked for me on a tough bite day. During September-October on LO if it just seems to be a "dead day" I'll pick up a 1/2oz. Redeye shad rattlebait and just burn down a few long stretches of bare nothing lookin' banks. My theory is that cruising fish are looking for something. They aren't satisfied with sulking on a point or other piece of structure, or sleeping in a brushpile somewhere like all their cousins. I'm gonna cover a bunch of shoreline and look for individual fish that are on the move. That's the best way I know of to get some smell on your hands when nothing else is working. Seth Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 A 4" wacky senko or PBJ ned rig. It has to be ridiculously slow for that though. I'd rather fish like fishinwrench though and just cover water. I like to cover water and find active fish versus trying to coax sluggish fish in to eating. I've got to really have confidence in an area before I will slow down and picky it apart with those two baits I mentioned.
dtrs5kprs Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 The deal is this...a lot of times fish really aren't feeding inactively, they just won't chase, or don't want a big bait. Throw a Ned (or occasionally some other small bait, but not much comes close) and a lot of times they will eat it quickly and consistently.
