Donna G Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Thinking of TBT (throwback Thursday) that many folks do on FB, so I was looking at some old pics. Came across these and wanted to share. Would love to see your TBT photos of fishing friends, family and idols. The ones I'm sharing today have passed on, but it doesn't mean yours have to be. A little intro - Penny Berryman. Anyone who knows anything about women's bass fishing recognizes this name. I had the privilege and pleasure of being her co-angler at Dardanelle in the inaugural year of ESPN's Women's Bass Tour. A class act. When Champ188 was a sports writer with the Arkansas state paper, he covered her from her boat for the old Bass'n Gal Classic. (Recognize the person interviewing Penny? Think Major League Fishing.) Connie Jenkins. Longtime postmaster of Knob Knoster, Missouri and avid tournament angler. She was one of the first women to ever compete in a men's professional bass tournament. She collected frogs (not real ones) to illustrate her motto F.R.O.G.S. - Fully Rely on God. My daddy - William Clark Taylor. Miss fishing with my daddy. crazy4fishin, denjac, jim m and 9 others 12 Donna Gilzow Bella Vista, Arkansas The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. --John Buchan, 1915
jim m Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 thanks for posting and yes I remember hearing of Penny. I often remenise of the days I fished with my father in the 1950's and eaely 60's before girls and adult life got in the way Donna G and Champ188 2
Champ188 Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 As an addendum to Donna's post, Connie was married to Wallace Jenkins, who some of you may remember from old Missouri BASS Federation days. Codywskeeter1521, Donna G and denjac 3
abkeenan Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Thanks for sharing Donna. Your dad seems to be an early pioneer of the fishing jersey. What a trooper wearing a wool jersey like baseball players in the early to mid 20th century. Can't believe Champ married a girl whose papa was jersey sporter. Love conquers all. Thanks again for sharing the pics. Donna G, Daryk Campbell Sr and Champ188 3
