Larry Eby Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Seen a video on how to rig two in series. Have managed to set it up. FF was out of the butt color. I've got the smaller in front of the larger. Will see how it works. Stay tuned. magicwormman 1
176champion Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Why not just buy the double plopper?? That thing ought to cast a mile....lol I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
abkeenan Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Interesting. I wonder how a plopper would do with the old Norman Front Funner (now made by War Eagle) tied in front of it. Not the commotion of 2 ploppers but the same chasing idea. I've had a Front Runner forever and have never used it as I am not a fan of multiple knots (higher chance of one failing) and I am just too lazy to tie 3 knots. Anyone ever use one of these? I've always thought it was a good idea but have never heard of anyone actually using one.
m&m Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 ABK, a long time ago I read about that front runner and tried tying it first and then running a Zara Spook off the back of it. I threw it for a day and caught nothing so I put it away and haven't thrown it since. The idea seemed to have merit but the execution of it did not work for me. Mike

I tie the front runner to the main line (15lb or so mono) and then use braid between the front runner and spook. somewhere around 18" to 2' of braid leader. braid seems to let the spook dance and dart better. if they are really aggressive, pop your rod tip up every now and then and the front runner will hop out of the water Champ188, magicwormman, abkeenan and 1 other 4

Excellent on whites, when they are picky about little bait. A small floating Rapala will work up front too, although not with a spook. Chugger or prop bait for that.
fishinwrench Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 A front runner ahead of a Fluke/Sluggo is a killer sometimes. Kinda weird that they'll eat the runner more often than the bigger fluke. Champ188 1
Smalls21 Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 i have used a chugger, then tied a leader to the rear split ring, and tied a weightless fluke on. really good on schooling whites, have had a couple doubles with that setup
Hughesy Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I used them in front of a redfin and have caught numerous fish on it. Buster Loving was also a big fan of using them on redfins also. dtrs5kprs and Champ188 2
