176champion Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Son and I fished the TOC out of Kimberling City yesterday i caught one fish in about 5 foot of water on a war eagle spinner( sexy Mouse) and fish stretched the spinner bait out straight and it weighed 2.69 pounds ...the winning team caught 18.4 pounds for 5 fish in which they had big bass at 6.25 pounds said he ran way up the james river and caught them all on jigs fishing wind blown banks seems like around 9:30 am all the fish disappeared ......I would have to say out of 57 boats only half of them had fish.... I was going to run up the James River and something told me to stay close to Kimberling City and i know why ...went to leave from where i was about a mile from port and my starter crapped out, my son pulled the cowling off motor and beat the heck out of the starter with a 1/2 inch drive ratchet while i was turning key and motor started and we headed in to weigh in... big c 1 I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Champ188 Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Never believe a word a guy says from the weigh-in stage ... me included. I don't know why some tournament organizers even ask a guy to tell a crowd of total strangers where/how he caught his fish. Daryk Campbell Sr 1

Champ188 Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Bo, I see your point and there was a time when I did the same. But two factors have changed my mind in recent years ... First, fishermen in general seem to want everything handed to them these days, including how/when/where to catch them. I know there have always been some like that, but now it seems to be more the rule than the exception. Second, there is a fair number of guys these days who run their own businesses off the front of their boat using cell phones. You give these guys a spot(s) and they'll flat wear them out. And if you give them a pattern, some of them are good enough to put 2+2 together and end up on your spot(s). Yeah, I'm getting old and crabby to a degree, but the truth is I enjoy sharing most of what I've learned over the years. I just don't like handing it out to the lazy bums who are just looking for an effort-free leg up on the competition. 176champion, 96 CHAMP, Daryk Campbell Sr and 8 others 11
MOPanfisher Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 I don't bass fish much so my knowledge of them would be less than useless tp anyone who is in a tournament, but I did ask a guy who won a small local tournament what he caught them on, never even crossed my mind him not wanting to tell me. He replied we were fast trolling 12 inch plaid colored worms. LOL, OK then. Alby Fish, Champ188 and 176champion 3
