We cane upbon a dead hog by a fence row. had tisk on him at least 6" long. What the heck was that. Nobady believed us. 60 years ago was about the end of open range. There was a time that most livestock roamed free without fences. I remember a farmer 40 years ago that let hogs roam, but that was after fence law. I would run into them turkey hunting near his property. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Walcrabass Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Fishinwrench.............. it is OK to spotlight fish because Deer don't have gills and stay in the water................... Wayneblevins..................... good to see that someone else understands what MDC stands for.............. Money..... associated with DEER................ C ompany Sorry guys but there are instances where the rules need to be changed. The farmers always seem to be footing the bill but not sharing in any of the profit. Wally
Old plug Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 St Louis post dispatch had acpiece about a lady state rep from Springfield wants to raise the fine for farmers releasing hog from $1000 to $5000. Also suspend their hunting, fishing and trapping rights for 3 yrs. SHe really has ger eye on the problem HUH? Hogs are eunning all over breeding and she seems to think they are all coming from local farms. I went to a hog opertion not fsr from here those hog never getvoutside a building mich less the hog frmer releasing them. I have seen a few really big domestic hogs behind fences that they could go through with little effort if they tried.

fishinwrench Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 Hard to prove intent. Determining whether a farmer released them or the hog(s) just managed to escape is going to be tough.
jdmidwest Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Not always a farmer. I overheard a Ftard bragging around a campfire about hauling a load of horses down to Texas and backhauling a load of wild hogs. Of course, he also bragged about dumping them out on public ground. He was just some drunken guy that stumbled into a campfire and struck up a conversation. Probably many more just like him. Then there are the ones that feed them and have guided hunts. All seem to proliferate the problem. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
MOPanfisher Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 What "releases" I know of had nothing o do with hog farmers, at least not real hog farmers. They are already out there, I don't have a problem with fines for someone releasing hogs, however it is near impossible to catch them.

I would like to see what she the wording before I felt itvws hrd to prove intent. wording of the legisltion is wht its all about. Escaping could be faulted and hooked to releasing. Will try to find it. It is HB283 and it uses the term recklessly as a form of releasing. THe bill goes on to doscribe no penalty for escape. But there would be a real thin line vetween escape and reclessly no doubt determined by some yahoo outvon the field She has another one H282 that states chasing deer could cost you $3000 fine. AGAIN just wht does some YAHOO determine what CHASING IS?
