Daryk Campbell Sr Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 When you catch as many as I do,it's hard to round, or estimate. Hard to forget less than 5. Guest Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 I developed a BS correction factor for people who estimate their fish counts on the high side. To do this, go fishing with someone who is a BS'r. Secretly count how many fish they catch. At the end of the day, ask them how many fish they estimate they caught. Then, divide the number they actually caught by the number they said they caught, subtract that value from 1, then multiply by 100 to get the BS correction factor. For example, is someone estimated they caught 50 fish, but they only caught 40 they would have a 20 percent BS correction factor. Repeat over time to evaluate the accuracy and precision of the BS'r.
Mitch f Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 I don't care how many fish they catch. But bring a measuring device for the big ones. I had a guy tell me he once caught a 6 pound smallmouth on the Meramec. I asked him if he weighed it with a scale, he said "No, but I did have a measuring tape and it was 18 1/2" long!" Guest Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 That applies to weight as well... An 18.5" river smallie is probably 3 some lbs? That guy is likely a 50 percent BS'r....
