I got it from some fisheries biologists who had been studying white bass during a 10 year period. That explains it. Those guys are as full of $#it as a Christmas goose. ☺
dan hufferd Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 I have noticed that light is a huge factor for what I do, I just haven't broke the winter code for daily success. I know it sounds strange but overcast days are my toughest. Probably because the fish are suspend all over the lake with the shad (as mentioned above) and not on the structure that I tend to fish. I love it when we are hashing it out, good stuff, I always learn a lot. dprice 1

fishinwrench Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 I'd love to see some data from White bass studies. The only one I can find is terribly outdated and from a waterway far North of us. I don't think many intelligent studies have been done on WB, which makes me a tad upset that they are introducing Hybrid Stripers into various waterways and altering the gene pool of the native whites. That kinda action is irreversible and may turn out to be a bad decision. Do they REALLY know what they are doing? I hope so. dan hufferd 1

mrgungho Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Hey all, What are the whites biting on this time of year? Sliders? Small spinners and cranks? Small lipless perhaps? I usually kill them in the early spring on an a-rig.. But haven't ever really shot for them in late Fall. Thanks for any suggestions!! fishinwrench Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Lately I have been throwing a Pop-R (chrome/black back) and a 1/8oz. Sassy Shad 3", or Larew Long John minnow. Also did pretty good ripping a CC jigging spoon. Or a #2 Bulkhead Deciever, or #4 Clouser on the flyrod. Pretty sure the gluttons will eat anything. ☺ mrgungho 1
Members ewlech Posted November 25, 2016 Members Posted November 25, 2016 I have been catching them on a Normans deep little N, a super spook junior, and a small A-rig with 1/8 OZ jig heads and 4" curly tail grubs (2 hooks cut off to stay legal). mrgungho 1
Members Raider3447 Posted November 29, 2016 Members Posted November 29, 2016 I'm a little late to this thread, but I had to post in it. I only fish in the fall for Whites. I'm usually golfing every weekend, but I take a month off to go to Stockton. Been doing this for over 15 years (not as long as some of you) but this is my two cents. Wind is the key. If there's no wind, I go home empty handed. I have my best luck with wind out of the north or west blowing toward the bank. I used to think overcast days were the best, but when I was out a couple of weeks ago, I did much better in the sun than the shade. My best years are when the lake is low, like now. For years I only used chartreuse and orange rooster tails. Now, I use pearl sliders and dark purple swimming minnows. Hope this helps some of you. Good luck! I almost forgot to add that water temp is really important. I won't catch anything unless it's below 65. dan hufferd and fishinwrench 2
