Actually the fish is only about 2" long.  All of the walleye which we kept had them in their stomachs.  The best walleye was around 3#..

Analyzed many hundreds of fishes stomachs over the years. A young bluegill.  The key is the little dot of pigment behind the gills. It is very slow to digest and often os still present when the bones are half sticking out.

It's a 2 pounder.  Keeper none the less.
