Moswimb8slinger Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 I was told to put this back in the box and wrap it for Christmas morning, but I had to snap a few pics of the new Lew's SC6000 next to my Calcutta 400. After Christmas morning, I'll break into it, adjust the centrifugal brake and check out the guts of this thing. It'll be strung up with 25lbs test Big Game mono and strapped to a KGB Swimbaits custom XXH rod by Ark-Rods. I'll be tossing my larger baits (6 to 10oz) with the combo. After some use, I'll come back with my own personal "performance" review. Specs: Retail price $99.99 (I got it for 20% off with a canned food donation at the Lew's store/SFO) 300yds/15lbs test 225yds/20lbs test (mono I assume) 100mm handle with EVA knobs Carbon fiber drag rated @ 18lbs (as per Jim Lovan, the labels will be fixed soon to display that specification) 5:3-1 ratio Weight: 11.8oz 23" per turn 5+1 bearings Fish24/7 1

stinger160 Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 Do you think there is an advantage in fishing from the kayak vs a bassboat in terms of catching fish? Stealthier make a difference?
Moswimb8slinger Posted December 26, 2016 Author Posted December 26, 2016 In areas where there's already alot of "noise" in the water, there's really no stealth advantage. But in shallow areas, 15ft or less, in the back of coves, rivers, and ponds, I would say there might be an advantage. I know some the west coast big bass hunters will use sonar to locate fish, but once they find them, they turn it completely off. And on calmer days, they turn their trolling motor speed down too (higher speed, more water turbulence on blade startup/electronic noise) and creep into spots. With a kayak, all the fish will hear is splashing, which typically they are used to hearing. Plus the gas, maintenance and insurance bills are much cheaper with a kayak than a bass boat.lol Daryk Campbell Sr 1
