Mike, unless you are fishing strictly for keeper/big bites, you may be missing out on a lot of action. A jig that big just isn't going to get you the number of bites that a Ned rig or shaky head will.

And before anyone slaps down the small fish card, I introduced a guide buddy at Broken Bow to it a little over a year ago. Last spring, he or clients caught two 10-pounders and a 9 on it.

From the Spring of 1974 (I was in law school at Norman) until the year I left Tulsa to move here, 2002, Broken Bow was my go to destination fishing lake. Not the one I fished the most often, but the one I fished every time I could justify an overnight trip. I have not been there since then, but I miss it.

And, yes, that highland reservoir lake with three species of bass is another perfect place to fish the Ned. Just as it was the perfect lake to fish the Charlie Brewer slider the Ned method so closely resembles.

Champ, I agree with what you said. I always have a jig tied on but I mostly pitch it to objects rather than fish it like I do the Ned or shakey head.

Hello Gentelemen (& Donna ;),

We don't expect to have the boat, our gear, or ourselves, ready to fish by Saturday but would love to come out and wish you all the best.

It is great to be back home.  Participating in this forum and getting ready to play at beautiful TRL again  are some of the benefits of being back.

We have had a winter full of adventures well south of the border; got to enjoy the company of old friends, and a beloved son we rarely see.  We met and became fast friends with some like-minded folks, some of whom saved us from a substantial mechanical problem and who bravely stood their ground against some corrupt officials to prevent a Canadian doctor & his assistant from being severely taken advantage of.

This world is full of truly amazing people that we have been blessed to know and some of them are on this forum. We only know many of y'all through this forum but look forward to at least putting some faces to names.

I am reorganizing the shop but should have some time to make some baits to bring & inflict upon you. If you something particular you want, or any suggestions please let me know

Pepe - you offering to bring baits to a group of fisher people is like offering crack to a druggie!! And as my old boss used to say we would be on that like a bum on a ham sandwich! (No offense to those of you that might be considered bums)

I see that there is a 60% chance of rain that day so come prepared!

Everyone should bring a lawn chair to sit in at the weigh in / picnic!

Right now it appears to be the first day of a cold front with 60% chance of rain. Perfect conditions for fishing and a picnic!!
