My problem is not setting the hook hard enough..got so use to fishing the grass flats in the Gulf and catching weakfish ( spotted trout) that if you set the hook to hard you break there jaw, hence the name weakfish...lol

I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything!

I think he's talking about the sheer weight of the larger reel, Dave.  I had some reservations, too, when I went from the 2500 to 3000 size in the Pfleugers I bought recently. However, I quickly found that the tradeout of a little more weight for the difference in line management (almost zero twist) was more than worth the move up in size.

Exactly.  The line twist has really been my biggest issue with the smaller reel.  I'm planning on trying to grab a 3000 size again.  The trade off of less twist, and more drag is probably worth my perceived reduction in feel.

Reduced feel is a plus. In an odd way, a heavy reel that forces you to keep your hand lower, bringing the rod tip down is too. Makes you less likely to overwork the bait.

Hard to overstate the difference in twist between the two sizes.
