Went out at 1 and fished till just before dark, ended with 6 fish, 4 keepers today. Worked up to inside of a main lake point and had my first keeper of the day, a nice healthy K on a stickbait up close to the bank. Moved to another main lake point with brush and caught a nice LM on a-rig in 10-15 foot. Hit a few piles close by but had no wind, nothing doing. Moved to some secondaries 3/4 way back in cove with deep water close by with some wind and caught another nice LM and a K on the rig, again in the 10-15 foot range. Moved to some more piles but no wind and had a couple shorts on a jig.

I could have told you back before holloween it was going to be one fine winter. That is usually how my planning works   Being a knot headed fisherman I pressed through fall with my rotten shoulder  till it got the point I just had to stop. Done the total reverse replacement of the shoulder the 28 th of Decenber ( when My plan thinking told me everything was going to be dead) so now I am sitting here fit go be tied. I am recovering real fast as i usually do. I hope to get down on a couple neighbor docks tomorrow aand see ifI can catch a crappie or two. I am HOPING anyway.  Tried driving yesterday. That was not pleasant but it was possible the 10 miles to town and and back.

Good post, thank you!

Do you have a different color on that A-rig for the middle/longer bait?  Just started throwing one and have seen a lot of guys reccomend either a darker color or larger bait or something different to make one stand out.

The 3 baits with the business end on them are same size but just different colors. I mix it up to give bass different looks (colors) thinking they will find the one they think is the one. Usually have at least 1 white one on cloudy days. I use hitchhikers on top 2 wires to keep them up top and a buddy makes me 1/8 ounce 5/0 or 6/0 gama hooks which keeps weight down. It has worked good for me.

I use the Hitchihikers on top also, just haven't really tried mixing and matching the types of baits with the hooks yet.  Like anything else, learning curve and helps to have guys to talk to about it.  Can't wait to get out Saturday and get on the water again.......

Of course the crying when you lose one of these is a little worse than most other baits most of us throw :)
