Sore Thumbs Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Boat Capsized on Rayburn. It was a Champion. Tells me all I need to know. Ha. Glad they were ok.
merc1997 Bo Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 that was really a close call being in cold water that long. i took notice of one of their comments about having to keep pulling their pdfs back down to keep from coming off. that is a great reminder to everyone to check the fit of their pdf. they really need to be a really snug fit to not have the same issue while in the water. thanks for posting such a great reminder to all of us about being safe and wearing your pdf. bo Sore Thumbs, dtrs5kprs, Daryk Campbell Sr and 5 others 8
Nitro 750 Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Thanks for posting, hope everyone is careful.
176champion Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 21 foot champion and any boat over 20 foot is not required to have flotation foam in it which i don't understand...said one of them noticed water boiling out of the rear deck covers makes you think a thru hull connector or a hose broke in the bilge. Insurance is investigating. I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
Bushbeater Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Another accident yesterday in Georgia. One dead one missing. http://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/cherokee-county/2-people-missing-after-2-boats-collide-on-allatoona-lake/490301163
balsabee Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 His story is on Facebook and he said he had some work done to the boat, which might have not been properly installed. So sounds like maybe hoses. dtrs5kprs 1
dtrs5kprs Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Wonder if that was one of the new Charger/Champs, or an old Champ hull?

Older 210 Champ hull..... although the 210 Charger/Champ is identical. Perfect reason why you should run dual 2500 bilge pumps, you can move a lot of water in a very short time with that setup. vernon, merc1997 Bo and dtrs5kprs 3

Might not notice the water coming in, but sure to notice that pump kicking on. balsabee and vernon 2
Ham Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Don't know the "hole" story. Weather may have been an issue as well. If I had water coming in like that, I would get the boat moving forward to reduce water coming in and give pumps time to work and then try to affect repairs on the fly. sucks for them though Sore Thumbs and dtrs5kprs 2 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future.
