Members Cameronrulz Posted March 7, 2017 Members Posted March 7, 2017 Hey all. I was wanting to make a trip to Taneycomo for the first time next week. The trouble is, I am stuck to fishing from shore. I have no boat, no waders, nothing. So, I would like to know if it is possible or reasonable to attempt to fish from shore. I know there are fishing docks, which I may check out anyway, but I was wanting to start near the dam and hike my way down. If this isn't worth pursuing, any advice as to what else I can do would be appreciated. I mostly don't want to drive down and feel that I have wasted the gas a few hours worth of time because I don't know where to begin. Thanks!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 7, 2017 Root Admin Posted March 7, 2017 Go to the boat ramp below the dam and throw jigs, small jerk baits, a spoon. You can also cast a fly rod there- jig and float. It's a good spot. Flysmallie 1
Members Cameronrulz Posted March 8, 2017 Author Members Posted March 8, 2017 Sounds good. I will check that out, thank you. Is going near the dam pointless without wading? Also, which public access fishing docks are recommended if I am not having luck elsewhere? Thanks again!
Travis Swift Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 As Phil said you can fish off that boat ramp, it's pretty deep right there and steep you won't need waders and it's one of my favorite spots up there. Fall Creek allows you to fish off their dock for $5 a day I believe or at least they used to. That's a pretty good spot also. Another public place that can be good from the bank is directly across from Scottys trout dock at the mouth of the creek is a public park and that can be a great spot. Last but not least I catch a ton of fish at the landing during certain times off the docks down there.

Members walleye4butch Posted March 9, 2017 Members Posted March 9, 2017 I would go down and fish the dock at cooper creek public access. I went down in early january did not have my boat but we caught trout using inflated nightcrawlers and 2 browns over 20 inches. Word of warning don't forget a net. My fingers were damaged by lipping my brown both were released, their is usually fish to be caught off that dock good luck.

Members walleye4butch Posted March 11, 2017 Members Posted March 11, 2017 Thats what I had to do I dropped the fish twice before getting it on the dock. My thumb and forefinger bled for 2 hours but I did finally get it in.
