No, this isn't Michigan or Wisconsin, but you couldn't tell based on the scenery. It's far northern Indiana and the Tippecanoe River.

Tried a few casts, but it is below freezing here and unsurprisingly the smallies had no interest in anything I threw. Still a great day.

Yep. There are many places in Indiana that remind me of the Ozarks. Southern Indiana in parts of Hoosier National Forest is especially indistinguishable, unless you look at geology/vegetation really closely.

That's a good thing for someone who tends to pine for home more than I ought.

Thanks for posting, I shared with my son who is stuck in Chicago for now he is always looking for a place to bend his rods and use his tent.  He googled and said about 2 hrs from him he hopes to go down there.

Awesome! There are some surprisingly cool places in north  western Indiana. Of course none of them are secrets that close to so many cities, but the state park system is pretty robust and most of them are worthwhile.

Tippecanoe has a good trail system and the river is supposed to be very solid for smallies. Definitely worth doing.

I wonder if the river is the original collection site of the Tippecanoe darter, Etheostoma tippecanoe. It is definitely a fish that I would love to catch someday. OTF - Thanks for the photos!

I appreciate the kind words. I have been blessed and cursed with natural curiosity, a collector's spirit, a knack for taxonomy, a love of field guides and dichotomous keys, and a photographic memory. I also appreciate all the diversity that the Lord has provided for us to enjoy. So getting after the little ones especially those that are brightly colored in the spring is becoming a obsession.

We missed fishing together last Jigfest, I hope if we are both there again that we get a chance to drag some trout around.
