Anybody else battle back problems?

Ive had chronic back pain since 2009 after a hunting accident. Then my truck got runover by an 18 wheeler in 2013. Lucky to be alive.

Yesteday I was told that my L5 vertebra was growing bone spurs & closing in on the nerve root. The disc (shock absorber) is basically Gone. So it's bone on bone friction. Eventually the hole in the vertrabre will pinch the sciatic nerve permanently 24/7 pain. It will require surgery to repair. They also told me that I developed adult scoliosis which I didn't have couple years ago. My spine is so crooked that I thought that I was leaning during the X-ray.

So im going to remove the hot foot out of the Basscat because it's causing the nerve to flair up. I also need to sell the food control TM & add the ipilot link terrova. Otherwise fishing might become a memory.

Really sorry to hear this.  Hope the surgery goes well and you can keep on fishing.

Thanks Doc

That's just it, surgery is last resort. They say it can make things worse. Not a good feeling.

I have back issues regularly.   Lower than yours.  Just a suggestion but you might look into acupuncture.  My dad is an anesthesiologist and he has a bad back as well.  He is a big fan of acupuncture for himself and as a treatment for others.

Best wishes,

Mark

We talked about some of this in person. I have been having right side hip issues for 2 years now. As I sit here on the couch, my nerve  running down the back of my right leg to below my calf is throbbing. I have a hot foot and do notice when I push to extend the throttle I could feel the nerve more. I have a slide hot foot, so yesterday I shortened it making it less distance to push. I'm hoping this helps. Stay with it buddy. You have a passion for fishing and it shows.

Trophy and the other guys with back pain, go to a good chiropractor. Don't go to one that uses the little clicky activator but one who actually manually adjusts you. If your disc space is narrowing at L5 look for a Chiropractor who has a Flexion Distraction table. This opens up the disc space and the holes the nerve roots exits out and can give you lots of relief. I am a Chiropractor and we see this type of back pain and sciatica all the time and can really help you guys out. Shoot me a PM and I can probably recommend a good Chiropractor in your area

Be careful not to elect to get the steroid shot in the lower back. The surgeon said it was that or a lot of screws & bolts for me. The first one was ok about a week. Two months later I went back to Cox for the second one (the Dr. said it usually took three for it to work properly). Walked into the treatment room & came out on a gurney. About 30 minutes later they wheeled me to the waiting car & sent me home. That was Pearl Harbor Day (Dec 7). As of today I have almost recovered the use of my left knee & the back is still killing me.

The boat is still setting in my shop with dead batteries. Oh well - life happens when you get past 50.

I tossed out the office chair & replaced it with an excercise ball this morning.

haha. Good choice. I ran my boat yesterday after moving my hot foot closer to me and made a big difference. I wasnt reaching so far to reach it, stretching my nerve out as much.
