I am heading down with the family this weekend and was hoping to get out with my son for a little bass fishing.  We haven't fish Lake O this year and was wanting some hints on where we could find a few bass.  We usually launch at the Shawnee Bend Access.  Any help would be appreciated.

You should be able to find "a few" right there in the back of the ramp cove.  They are likely to be gooduns too!

Launching the boat is optional.

Bass and crappie both were paired up on beds today.   Beds were in 10" to 4' of water.  More dense in the backs of shallow coves but I saw plenty behind docks along steeper banks too.   No need for stealth....You couldn't run those fish off their beds with a boatload of hand grenades.

I used a Texas rigged 4" tube, and weightless Senko to get a limit of 2+ pounders.  No big girls for me today.  Tried dragging a C-rig awhile but there's too much mossy gunk to fish it shallow.

Thank you wrench for the advice.  My son and I went out Saturday morning about 6:30.  We launched at Shawnee Bend and fished the pockets near there.  We had a great day my son caught his first fish over 5. A 5.79 on a texas ridded senko.  I had one that weighed 6.47 and another 5.13 on a jig.  Broke off another big one on a dock cable.  We had 18 keepers a lot in the 2-3 pound range.  We even caught some on topwater in the afternoon no bigs maybe 3 pounds was the largest we caught on topwater.  Most of our fish came on a texas rigged senko or a jig.  Great day on Lake O.  What great fishery, I wish I got a chance to fish it more often.

We struggled to find the better bass on Friday the 14th. We caught smaller bass on cranks, spinnerbaits, and jerkbaits. Fished main lake points and coves with wind. Conditions sure seemed good but just could not find the better fish.....

With all due respect.....When you see a fish in the house with the laundry, it's not an unreasonable assumption that its gills got dried out and might as well have been eaten.

In reality though, no worse than a weigh-in line and a parade around the stage.

Except those weighin lines have water tanks, and after 30 seconds if that, of getting weights, back in the tank they go.
