Long story short I need to get two appraisals on the value of my boat trailer so I can pay taxes on it and DOR will issue me the title. Are there any boat dealerships or dealers in the Stockton or Stockton lake area that would do an appraisal like this?

Never heard of you needing an actual apprasial.  I just guess at what its worth. Usually $500 for trailer.

That's all I did when I bought my boat used.  I just split up the overall cost by what I thought the boat, motor, and trailer cost and put that on the bill of sale when I bought it.  I think it all made out to be 50% motor, 40% boat, and 10% trailer.  I think I put $600 for my trailer.

It's complicated... it was gifted to me. Per DOR an item cannot be "gifted" twice in a row. I didn't realize when my grandfather gave me the boat that he had gifted the trailer to his trust. I applied for title paid all the fees and never got a new title. That's when I called the license office they told me it had already been gifted once. They said I would have to get two written appraisals and would have to pay taxes on the average estimate...

Slap a coat of paint on it and title it as HMDE

Or WTH..... I'll write you an appraisal on it.  How much do you want it to be worth ?   Crap like that makes me wanna throw wrenches.

LOL I got it tagged at the license office in Greenfield. It's a pain, I've got no issue paying taxes, but think it's stupid to get two appraisals for a 35 year old trailer.

Exactly.  Nobody minds paying the taxes on their toys, but for Christ sake don't make doing so such a pain in the butt.

It's already a rip-off that you have to pay sales tax on USED items anyway.  At least let us wet the cuckleburr before we have to swallow it, please!   Noooo, we gotta swallow that thing DRY.
