I own a 2003 Tracker pro V WT, I have some serious carpet issues. The deck is wood, I really do not want to pull the deck up if I don't have to. The rod box lids and rear casting deck is the worst.

I was thinking bed liner or some form of paint.  I am not a big fan of carpet, I don't want to add a lot of weight, and I don't want to slip any ideas? I am all ears.

Thanks

Thank you anyone have any experience with a product called Tuff Coat?

I painted part of an aluminum boat interior with Tuff Coat. It worked just fine for me.

Hey Dan, looks like you've got another 6 years left in that carpet.  I had an aluminum Lowe several years ago that going down the highway, the whole rear deck carpet flew off.  It was in bad shape, with literally 1/3 of the carpet torn or missing.  It looked nice after i redid it.

For me, im a carpet guy.  In my home, trucks, boats.  Just something about the feel on my bare feet. I do fish shoeless alot when its not below 60 degrees.  That vinyl that alot of the new boats offer now would be to hot for me i think.

TinBoats BassClub.  An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.

I also think carpet is the least expensive and easiest option.  It's not hard to replace and if it is currently glued down it might be a lot of work to get to a completely smooth surface for paint or vinyl.  Most adhesives don't sand worth a hoot.  Also it isn't as fussy when trimming new pieces to fit.  Vinyl will show every little error.

I did my Ranger 10 years ago.

You do pretty good work.  I have an old Champion that is getting restored, and I don't have the time nor the patience to do the floor and front deck (lids are no problem).  If you're in the mood to do it I'd be willing to make it worth your while.

While I love an old Champion and glad you are restoring it as soon as the trout boat is done I'm starting on a new 22 foot wood lapstrake construction boat and it's going to have to be lofted full size (that takes 8'x24' on the floor) and the rest of the shop will be the building jig and strongback.  I just won't have the room.  Sorry.

I know someone who has that, they like it most of the time, but says it gets a bit slippery in bad weather.  I thought about it myself, but I like to fish in the winter, so I just stuck with carpet.
