MOsmallies Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Thought Wrench would like seeing this one! The Elite Series guys are on Sam Rayburn this week for the Texas Fest benefiting the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The format for this tournament is similar to MLF where they have an on-boat marshall who weighs and records each fish (over 15") and then they are released immediately. They are only doing 5-fish limits (unlike MLF) so culling is in effect... and they are allowed to keep their biggest fish over 21" in their livewell to bring to weigh-in for the fans to see. Maybe this is the beginning of a trend for these major tournament trails? Who knows but I thought it was pretty neat to see. https://www.bassmaster.com/tournaments/toyota-bassmaster-texas-fest-benefitting-texas-parks-wildlife I would love to see more of this especially during the spawn and the hot summer months! fishinwrench Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 That truly is great ! I sure hope it goes well and this is the beginning of change. ? MOsmallies, Daryk Campbell Sr and Terrierman 3
shrapnel Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Unfortunately the pro's represent less than 1% of the fish caught in tournaments. Having a marshall in every boat will never happen at the amateur level, but something needs to change. I still think a unique token given the morning of, a picture of the fish on an official board with said token and polygraphs would work. Come to weigh in, show the weigh master your best 5 in pics on your phone and it gets recorded. fishinwrench and Brian Jones 2

Tho i wouldnt cheat to save my life, there will always be those that would add lead down the throats, manipulate the scales in someway, etc. Just never see it happening in the real world. There are no scales to manipulate. Your totaling inches not pounds, although somewhat related which is why it works. It's done in saltwater all the time with no issues.
fishinwrench Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 In an amateur event....the cost of enough lead/tungsten to make a difference is gonna equal more than you're likely to win. ? I mean really, if a dude presents pics of five 2 pounders, then submits a total weight of over 20# it's going to be pretty obvious. I don't believe there would be any more "cheating" than there already is.....which is next to NONE.

Old plug Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Intend to agree with Ketchup. Weight s the wrong thing to me. Lehgth s better.
