fishinwrench Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 It's been my experience that they mostly come out into the open at night. So maybe a nightly patrol around the yard with a flashlight and a shotgun is in order for awhile. tho1mas and BilletHead 2

Stein Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I just showed the pics to my wife. We are coming down this week with my niece and 8 yr old and I wanted her to see one. She likes snakes but these are something to watch for. I saw a small one dead on our road when we were out for a walk last time so I know they are in the area.
jdmidwest Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Cool, you found a mated pair. Keep eyes out for all of the little green tailed babies that should show up soon. Did you know copperheads give live birth, no eggs in nest. BilletHead 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
BilletHead Posted May 31, 2017 Author Posted May 31, 2017 Thanks a bunch JD. Yes I did know they gave live birth. Let's hope I stopped that cycle before the birthing process. Still kind of wondering if weather played some part of them showing up on high ground this year? No problem here. I like snakes of all sorts. I respect them and they should know to respect me know . MOPanfisher Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Used to always find big black snakes in pairs, have one then a day or so later the second one. Always tossed them into the hay barn to eat mice. Have only found one or two copperhead around my house in my life though. BilletHead 1

Seldom see a king snake anymore, best snakes of all. Eat rodents, copperheads, and are docile to handlle.
