However catching keepers or crappie of any size was difficult. At least the future is bright! Have your visited Limitville lately?
Gumboot Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Am amazed at the number of 5-7" crappie in the lake. Lost count yesterday, but estimate caught 40+ crappie, only 3 keepers. Jigs in 6 to 10' of water pretty much anywhere that looked fishy.
shockley32 Posted June 19, 2017 Author Posted June 19, 2017 It was like this in March, you could literally catch 200 crappie on a trip and be lucky to have 2-3 keepers. Normally I would have been aggravated about the situation, however the older I get the more I realize the fishing trip, nature, weather and friends make it enjoyable. I'm looking forward to this fall/winter for the fishing should be excellent. grizwilson, Daryk Campbell Sr, Old dog 417 and 1 other 4 Have your visited Limitville lately?
MOPanfisher Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Yep, 2018 should be a phenomenal year thanks to the high water in 2015, and with this year's high lake levels 2020 should be great too. Just don't spread the word too far.

A 9 inch crappie doesn't have much meat on it. They are hardly worth filleting in my opinion. grizwilson, Daryk Campbell Sr and WeekendWarrior 3
MOPanfisher Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 I have no problem with a 9 inch length limit on crappie, there is certainly no shortage of crappie. Anyone who wants to throw back the 9 inches certainly can and many of us do, there are more than enough 10s and better around as well. Lakes like Pomme, Truman and LOZ with 9 inch MLL, sure seem to have plenty to choose from.
Members jwilson48 Posted June 20, 2017 Members Posted June 20, 2017 The little ones are overwhelming right now. We basically just gave up fishing our go to spots because we couldn't find keepers for the tourney, and lucked into a few in areas we don't have much experience. We had 9 keepers Saturday, half of which came off one spot. I don't remember it ever being as bad as it is right now struggling to catch 9" fish, yet catching 200 fish a day. On the plus side you could take a kid out and have a blast with them.
MOPanfisher Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Before the lake went high and the water was clear, I had a blast easing along the shoreline and with all the fish you could see it was a game to catch a particular fish, if another one grabbed it, didnt count.
