Members Luke G. Posted June 21, 2017 Members Posted June 21, 2017 Been sifting through state websites and news articles but can't seem to find any info on the new state park on the eleven point. Wondering if any Alton area locals have any details on if/when the park will change camping or fishing regulations down there? Thanks all!
Gavin Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Will be years in the making, but it's the ranch were the Beatles stayed. Natural for a tourist attraction. Luke G. 1
Coldspring Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Missouri State Parks doesn't n have a director, how is anyone supposed to know? I would look at other situations involving state parks. None of regulations on Current River have been changed for Current River State Park. Of greater concern is State Representative Robert Ross. Next January, he will file a bill in the State House to strip away your ability to use Missouri streams. Rumors have it that the Plaster Family that owns Empire Ranch on the Osage Fork of the Gasconade have influenced him to keep presenting this bill that will effect Missouri streams navigability rights. He has presented it over 4 years in a row. He is also making repeated attempts to auction off Eleven Point State Park. He even added an amendment to the St. Louis area nuclear landfill buyout deal,, which caused the bill to be defeated. Either way, I wouldn't worry. There are three possible scenarios. No fishing regulations will change, the state park will be sold to private developers, or you will no longer be allowed to access the Eleven Point River and all other Missouri streams.
Al Agnew Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 I suspected something like that with Ross. And the real shame of it is that he keeps representing his bill as NOT changing our rights to float streams, when in reality it puts all the float streams into limbo, where we wouldn't know if they were deemed navigable until a Missouri court decided for each stream section. And the Plasters probably figure that they could hire enough high priced attorneys to make sure their stream section was decided to NOT be navigable by the courts. It makes perfect sense, and if true, should sicken every voter in his district and every Missourian. Daryk Campbell Sr and Luke G. 2

MOPanfisher Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 That would be bad news and set a precedent for other land owners around the state. I sure wish missouri would just go ahead and tackle the issue and decide it. Of course only if they decided it in favor of being able to float streams. Luke G., Daryk Campbell Sr and Flysmallie 3
Greasy B Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Every time this comes up I get a knot in my gut. I'll write my representative again but a doubt she'll bother read my letter. Brian Sloss Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 Without a head to the parks dept for the state, don't expect anything to happen there. Parks are obviously not a priority for the Gov or he surely would have hired someone by now. The position has been vacant for months. Due to the existing easements, even when opened and developed, I wouldn't expect any changes to the river corridor. Members Luke G. Posted June 26, 2017 Author Members Posted June 26, 2017 Speaking of the point, I saw the flows were still up in the 1,300 cfs range. Anybody been on it recently who can speak to the safety of the float?
