took knickmeyer fishing last night and here is what he came up with.  he caught it on one of the original 3/8 heads with black and blue skirt.  it was around 15 ft. deep.  we caught lots of bass for around an hour and a half.  nearly a bite every cast.

I was using a 3/4 GrassJig and a 1 oz. Elite Blade and they were hammering both.  after good dark, we did catch a few as shallow as 10 ft., but the majority of bites were in the 15 to 20 range.

Nice work Bo.

Are you slow winding the bladed jig, or fishing it as more of a yo-yo deal?

i am fishing it very similar to how i fish the SpinJig out deep.  i will crank it 6 to 12 times, and then stop and let swing back to the bottom.  i change speeds of the crank and that triggers them many times also.  most of the time, the bite comes after to stop cranking the the lure is swinging back to the bottom.  with the 1 oz. head, you can cover a lot of water and it draws lots of strikes from somewhat inactive bass.  and, when you get into active ones, it is game on.  this things works well in place of a spoon either casting or fishing vertical.

Lot like pulling and dropping a short arm spinnerbait then. Thanks.

no, because i am keeping tension on the line and letting it swing back to the bottom, not putting a belly in the line and letting drop straight back down.  if i were fishing it as a spoon, then yes, it would be bellying the line and let it drop straight back down, which during the middle of the day might work better than letting it swing.

I've always tight lined short arms back down. Think we're on the same page.

But maybe I'm fishing short arms wrong...

We've been catching them in the submerged bushes using your 3/8oz Elite blade in crawdad color. Have had a lot of good fish in the last week, early am works too.
