Travis Swift Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 I'm looking for a pair of waders for fishing for trout in the Ozarks and some pond bass here at home. I don't want to break the bank at all.......I'm on a tight tight budget on these. What are some good ones for the money? I know a dumb question but I'm assuming if you buy the felt feet then you have to buy special wading boots as well? I know ZERO about them so any info appreciated.
Flysmallie Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Stocking foot are going to be the most comfortable. That's where you have the seperate boots. But they don't have to break the bank either. Somebody will come along and say wait until you can afford some Simms. And I will say they are real nice, I like mine alot. But buy what you can and enjoy it. Bass Pro has their brand which are decent, Cabela's has theirs. Check Sierra Trading Post too. There are some deals out there, just do some shopping and read the reviews. Then make you best judgement based off your budget. My $400 Simms leak just as much as my old $100 White River ones did. I really need to send them in for repairs before it gets cold again.
Stein Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 I have bought two pair from Cableas bargain cave. One neoprene set and one regular set with neoprene socks. Like new but close to half price as they had to be marked "soiled". Pretty sure people buy them for that one big trip and then return them afterwords saying they didn't fit right.
moguy1973 Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Academy makes some pretty good Magellan brand ones too. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

MOPanfisher Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 If you buy regulag waders bee leery of the BPS store brand stuff. I bought a set of hip boots instead of the slightly more expensive LaCrosse ones. The soles of the cheaper ones are thin and hard on your feet. I have a pair of lacrosse at work and they are much more comfortable.
Members Leitsout Posted July 14, 2017 Members Posted July 14, 2017 Cabela's name brand stuff may come with a lifetime warranty. My duck waders sprung a leak after 2 years and I got a free replacement.

Full neoprene waders are hot and are good for winter use. Felt soles are against the law in Missouri. I and many people I know wear studs. If you use them make sure they are installed correctly.
Gavin Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Buy what you can afford in a boot foot wader and some decent boots. All waders leak, so buy a patch kit too. Isopropyl alcholol sprayed on the outside works great for finding pin holes & leaks.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 I have he Magellans from academy, They are great for me. I don't use them a whole lot though
