Johnsfolly Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 My betterhalf has talked about ziplining for the last few years. So this year for her latest birthday (won't say how old she is, but only a single digit using Roman numerals and it's not C or M), we finally got her out to a zipline course in New Florence, MO (Eco Adventure Zipline). Of course Livie and I had to go along for support ! Since we are novice 'liners' we signed up for their Soaring Six course with the option to expand after the first four lines to the full ten line course. Just a nominal cost to do the full ten. So after thinking that we have this ziplining deal down we opted to go all in for the Treetop Flyer zipline adventure package. Their course traverses a couple of deep ravines. The one line goes over a 245 foot drop. We got up to speeds of 30 to 40 mph. Livie is a bit of a daredevil. So she fit right in. we even mentioned that she might have like a line that travelled through a flaming hoop! We had a great time! We may have to come back at the end of Sept for our 22nd anniversary. I'll post the videos we can get them in a format that I can link to this post. MOPanfisher, grizwilson, BilletHead and 1 other 4
BilletHead Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Pretty cool John! I can just hear you all screaming like banshees zinging through the trees. Mrs. BilletHead wants to do a hot air balloon. Johnsfolly Posted August 13, 2017 Author Posted August 13, 2017 We get a lot of ballooning that goes on around Columbia. During out first two years in Columbia we once had a balloon come down in our apartment complex. Jackie loved it since they used her to push out the air as they were folding up the balloon. She was only 4 or 5 at the time. We have been up to a height of 50 feet in a tethered balloon during a 4th of July event. Both of us have wanted to try a real balloon trip. One of the Africa trips that my dad did when he was actively marking off his bucket list was a balloon ride over the plains. I remember his photos of riding high over the wildebeest and girafffes. The cost has been too high for us to take a trip. If you guys can afford it or make friends with someone that has a balloon, go for it☺! Pretty certain it would be a blast. BilletHead Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 If she ever got to do it I would have to fill a bunch of little helium balloons tied to a lawn chair . I promise I will use a strong tether rope to keep her in control ! Might be a good idea. But with me holding the rope to keep her safe and close to the ground she will be all right . Of course if she starts shooting at me I will turn the rope loose. Flysmallie Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 That looks like fun. But I'm terrified of heights so I'll just keep my fatass right on the ground. grizwilson 1
