I have been making the trek up to the northern lower peninsula of Michigan for many years and have caught many more smallmouth than I will ever deserve. The pics attached is a small sample of some of the best smallmouth fishing in the world.

The relative remoteness has resulted in fishing 5000 acre lake and not seeing more than one or two other bass boats. Everybody up there fishes for table fish like perch, walleye or pike.

I love smallie fishing up there. Can't say I've ever brought in a haul like that, though!

LOL! Those were pictures taken over the last ten years. But nearly every trip I will take a toad over 5 pounds. One lake produced the state record of 9.98 lbs. Of course the guy caught it off his dock on a danged worm!

Nice Ed!

Mitch, I Llc drag you up there sometime. Amazing clear water and massive "green" bass ( that's what my granny called them)

Look better than tan & orange fish;)! But your right. Northern Smallmouth are impressive beast. Can't wait. Headed to Quetico in a week. Have you tried Great Lakes Carp Fishing? Clear enough to wade & sight fish for them with flies often.

I have caught poor mans bonefish (carp) on flies. Big buggies looking wooly buggers, Craw imitators etc. nothing like catching a 20# plus carp on a 6wt. I fished the Rainy lake system in 2000 and we did well. The bugs should not be too bad this time of year. Have a great time, I wish I was going.
