Took a study break and tied these up. Probably won't fish them in Taney, quite frankly I'm not sure where I will use them. Maybe in Florida.

 

Picture doesn't show it but the bottom one has a neat rainbow effect for the body. Used rainbow tinsel and wrapped a clear tubing over it.

         How long does it take to learn not to lip a walleye Wrench?

    On March ninth of nineteen eighty six my cousin and I were fishing on the Osage out of Roscoe. We got on a kick that year using micro spinning reels with four pound line. I was throwing a red and white roadrunner against the rocky banks. I hooked a nice Walleye. The only fish I have mounted. It turned out to be nine pounds and eight ounces. I have caught larger since then but this was my first good one and most memorable. When we seen the fish finally come up next to the boat it became like a Chinese fire drill. Where was the net? Hey we did not need a stinking net ever until this day. When I thought he was tired enough I made a grab and lipped him. Then he came to life but I held on tight and got it into the boat. The damage was done and I was a bloody mess. Back then I was invincible, now not so much .

March 9th is a typical date for a good Walleye catch.

For whatever reason the walleye bite directly below Bagnell is on fire right now, and has been for a week or two. I have heard at least 6 different people talk about it lately.  One guy caught 4 big ones in less than 15 minutes from the bank.

Threw together a couple practice clousers. Even from just tying two I've learned a couple things. I was using hair way to close to the butt end of the bucktail (the fly farthest back has a weird profile because of it). That one will probably be trashed but the one in front looks a little better.

See if you can find the real recipe for the "Wildwood 3M Minnow".  

I think I hit it close enough here, but I can't find the original list of ingredients. 

Supposed to have a Fluke-like action, and is reportedly a genuine Smallie killer up North.

That looks like it would be good for a handful of species. I can't seem to find the recipe anywhere though. Orvis must've had Wildwood hide it in his safe...

 

Regardless, that one you whipped up looks very similar. The head reminds me of a badminton (ball?) shuttlecock*. Surely has some intense action.

Well since it's not a cut&dry Wildwood minnow then I'm gonna call it a "Birdie".

          Nice clean tie job there. Clean and sparse and length looks right. I was guilty of too thick in the standard Clouser. Got them right now but still do a thicker looking half and half. It has been in the past my go to for hybrids. *Note I say in the past.
