aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Does anyone here pull cranks with just their troller? I am needing some new batteries and looking for some suggestions. I used to get a solid 6 hours from mine, and yesterday they only lasted an hour. Even though they test good i know they wont last when running constant. I went by Ellis battery today and they have some big group 31 that are factory blemishes for a good price and they offer a 1 year warranty with. He said that they sell a lot of them to fisherman, just wondered if anyone had any experience with Ellis batteries.
J-Doc Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 I do and I use my factory Interstate batteries. No problems and I can troll 2.5mph all day if I want. 24v so two batteries. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Dutch Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 That is as good a warranty as most batteries. The thing to look for is reserve capacity. That is the number that is important in a trolling motor battery. Flooded cell batteries should have 180 to 200 or more RC.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted September 23, 2017 Author Posted September 23, 2017 Ive never heard much bad about the interstate batteries either The ones i was looking at were 220 reserve and i think.
rps Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I also troll with my 24v. I also endorse Interstate.
fishinwrench Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Always buy your Marine Battery's from the Marine dealer you like the best (and that likes YOU the best). Whatever it is that they sell....Use those. That way if there is a problem, the exchange experience will be pleasant. Plus, the more you show up in there the better your relationship will be on future boat/motor related deals. Hog Wally 1
Seth Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I know a few guys that buy those 31 series blemish batteries from Ellis for their boats and they have had good luck with them.
Ranger520vx Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 I have been running Ellis group 27 batteries 1 cranking and 3 trolling so far nothing bad to say. They have 1 year full replacement and 3 year prorated I believe that's what they said.
