Members Falcon215 Posted October 1, 2017 Members Posted October 1, 2017 I will be coming to Table Rock for the first time this coming weekend and would like to check out the King's river arm among other places. I am wondering how safe it is to run around in a bass boat. Is there a lot of flooded timber under the surface etc.? How far up can I safely go and are there areas where I need to idle? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Champ188 Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 That's a hard question to answer on an Internet forum. My best attempt is to say yes, there are areas with submerged timber, primarily above Viola Marina. If you are experienced at running Ozarks-type lakes, your common sense in keeping in the channel should serve you well. You just have to feel your way around for awhile. If you get as far up as the Hwy 86 bridge, it's not wise to try and run any farther. Idle only from there. magicwormman and cheesemaster 2
Members Falcon215 Posted October 1, 2017 Author Members Posted October 1, 2017 Thanks Champ! That is pretty much what I was looking for. I am used to running Truman, upper LOZ, Pomme, and Stockton so I know it really can't be answered and has to be learned and will never be completely safe. I will heed your advice and ease around above Viola and hope to get a feel for it. I really appreciate the help!!
Champ188 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 If you are used to those, you should have no trouble at all. Enjoy your trip and PM me if you'd like some advice. Donna G, Falcon215 and 96 CHAMP 3
vernon Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 That area is really pretty this time of year. Whenever we're back in the rivers in October, we run barely on plane or at an idle but it ain't necessarily for safety reasons - we just love to soak up the beauty of the surroundings. While we're there to fish, we've always found that it's worth slowing down and taking it all in. You can capture some awesome pictures that keep those memories fresh and vivid for a lifetime! I think you'll have a great time and absolutely love it. The sights, sounds and smells are still amazing to me and I've been doing this since 1974. Table Rock is one of those places that's way more than just a fishing trip! Smithvillesteve, magicwormman, Champ188 and 2 others 5 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."
