jdmidwest Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 I drove up with a friend on Sunday and fished it for the first time for fun. We put in at State Park ramp at daylight and fished that arm down to where you could see Osage Beach. It was a brutal lesson for me, first time on the lake. 2 small bass and a drum. But I did better than my buddy that has fished it before on several tourneys, he caught a white bass and nothing else. We pulled out by 2. It looks like it has potential, and not too far away for me. Shad were everywhere, but not much feeding on them. Lots of cover and deep rock banks like I normally fish. Boats were spaced out about every 100 feet everywhere we went. I am sure the tourney had many participants. We took my buddies boat and we were the smallest boat on the lake. 17' Alumacraft with a 25 Merc. I think the jet skis had us outgunned. Somebody had set up a boat blind that morning not far down the lake with a dozen geese out in front. He had boats fishing on both sides of him when we went by. I am sure he had not planned on all of the activity. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Hydro 205 Posted October 9, 2017 Author Posted October 9, 2017 It's going to be a good weekend to catch some release fish in workman this weekend. Hope I don't work again.

fishinwrench Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Maybe they ran a few across to Buck cr. They didn't go far, that's for sure. I'd say they got dumped between Alhonna and the Shawnee bend ramp.

They just took the top off. I do believe that is what is about to happen with tye crappie as well. People have learned how to get them all summer long. I know you were aware of all the 13" crappie being reported all ver the gravois. As far as the White, Hybrids and Stripers I been telling you about that down here. I spent 2 eveniings in a row chasing chasing after those surfacing ( sonething Ivery rarelt do bring a spoon fisherman) with a baot caster making those long cast. I can assire you I never will again. I absoluty know those days ar over. Really made a mess of both shoulders

Had a fantastic time the whole weekend and enjoyed myself immensely. Thanks to MOSmallies for taking me out in his boat!! My pleasure... It was a lot of fun! Mitch f 1

She had a big ole head and was pretty long. Just didn't have a big belly. Took 20th place in the 9-11 am slot on Saturday. $190 so I covered my entry fee. If I would've caught her 10 minutes earlier I think I would've got 11th place in the 7-9 am slot. Ended up lucking into one of the early bird drawings so I won another $500 from that. It was a fun weekend! Met a lot of great people. That is so funny. I wish I had taken a picture of my fish I weighed in at Alhonna in the 11-1 time slot on Saturday. It weighed 4.73 and took 27th place. I won less than you, but the striking similarities in fish is astonishing. I am trying to look at this convoluted Big Bass Bash results page that scans back to the top of the page every 15 seconds and it looks like you weighed at Red Oak. The red scarring on the belly is like the one I weighed. I mentioned to my partner the fish if healthy should have weighed over 6.
