Gavin Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 Took the paddle jon out yesterday with my buddy Bobber. The 55lb TM did really well. Motored up about 3 miles from the ramp to the confluence of a tributary stream, and motored back with the motor in reverse to compensate for the tail wind. No fish to show for it, but it was a nice day to get out. No love on Ned, Cranks, Jerkbaits, Hair Jigs, or HD Craws. Only two other boats and one kayaker on the water. snagged in outlet 3, MOsmallies, MOPanfisher and 1 other 4
snagged in outlet 3 Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 Similar experience on that stretch before it froze over. I had fair success until the river dropped out so low the "holes" were no longer holes.
moguy1973 Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 That's a tough stretch. Sometimes can be nice fish when you do find them there though. What's in the syrup bottle? -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Gavin Posted February 19, 2018 Author Posted February 19, 2018 Just did not find them. Its just water in the syrup bottle, he hangs it off his wader belt. He has done that for years.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 I found them when the river was above 600 CFS on the eureka gauge but when it dropped below that, they were gone. Gavin 1
Flysmallie Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 Still better than sitting at home. Gavin and snagged in outlet 3 2
Hog Wally Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 I fished all day Saturday and Sunday. The river was tough. Both days. Saturday in the snow for a hour was phenomenal.then awkward silence for hours. Yesterday it just never happened. Caught 11 keepers in 7 hours. snagged in outlet 3 and Gavin 2
Gavin Posted February 19, 2018 Author Posted February 19, 2018 There is something about fishing when its snowing. We caught the fire out of bass while it was snowing in February several years ago, even a few on buzzbaits. Way upriver in canoe & kayak country.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Smoked em one year on April 1st. It wasn’t snowing during the bonanza as it was between fronts but still overcast and grey.
