Heading to the big cedar area of the lake the last Sunday of this month. gonna have a little fish off with some guys from work. This area of the lake is foreign  to me so I was hoping I could get some advice from you guys. What to look for, baitcolor, I'm typically a jig, spoon, and shakey head kind of guy.

 Any help is appreciated

I've caught a lot of fish, and some big ones, in the cove that Big Cedar is in, especially around that time of year. Cleavenger is close by and good too.

What bluebasser said. The weather report for next week looks like it may be a continuous warming of the water. Might still be a prespawn pattern.

Not too far from Long creek either. A lot of tournaments won there. Need to add crank bait to your arsenal for sure. Jig will be a good bait as well. If you have brown and black jigs you will be covered. Ned rigs will catch them too. I like the PB/J. You should be able to catch them on whatever you want if the water temps are pushing 60 degrees. Have fun and be safe!

Shakeyhead with any green pumpkin worm of your choice is hard to beat day in and day out. Also, if you are coming at the end of April I would for sure have some type of topwater tied on such as a wake bait (redfin or plopper), chugger (pop-r) or  walker (spook). I've also had good days on the jerkbait late into April. Good luck!

I don't ever fish Docs would this be a good time to start trying I know there's a bunch of them down there

Yes. If they are pre or post spawn docks could be loaded. Concentrate on the ones in pockets and creeks more so than main lake unless it’s right by a pocket or front of a creek.
