Those GTs are great fish, but that trigger has my eye! Great looking fish and they're also tasty😀! Sounds like an awesome trip! Great job!

By Christmas Island, you mean the one where a ton of crabs go on a migration across the island? Or is this one somewhere else?

Technically there are 2 Islands called Christmas Island.  This Christmas island, (Kiritimati), is in the Island Nation of Kiribati which is 1500 miles south of Honolulu.

The Christmas Island with all of the land crabs is off the coast of Australia.

Oh ok. Well, I think that's still probably a record on here as far as remote places. How long was the flying?

It's not bad actually.  It's a flight to Honolulu from where ever you are, then a 3-hour flight from Honolulu to Christmas Island.  The one and only flight (on a 737-200) that Flies to Christmas Island leaves on Tuesday.  It returns on the following Tuesday. It's about 1500 miles due south of Honolulu, and only about 150 miles north of the equator.  At night, you can actually see the Southern Cross and the North Star at the same time.

I saw Larry Dahlberg do a show form the Seychelles years ago and he was catching monster bones and GT's.  I wanted to go so bad but then the pirates started killing people near there so I scratched it off the list.

Christmas Island is now on the list.  Is there an outfitter you used?

Hi Snagged,

I was the host of the trip for an outfitter.  I work for Front Range Anglers in Boulder.  We take 8-10 hosted trips a year, but if you want to get down there, send me a PM.
