merc1997 Bo Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 got out tonight and mucked around among the tourney fisherman. had a good trip. 14 keepers with 7 over 3 lb. most of the bass we caught were 30 ft. deep. best lures were a 3/4 oz. GrassJig and a 1 oz. Black Widow. we did have to do quite a bit of looking to find something to throw at. they just are not everywhere. leave your rods on the deck and go looking. it is time well spent. bo Quillback, abkeenan, Royal Blue and 10 others 13
Guest Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 haha, i noticed the graph is showing about 17 ft., but the wind had already pushed up that shallow by the time we got the pic taken. i was keeping the boat around 35 ft. most of the time. bo

Members Dynamite Point Posted September 1, 2018 Members Posted September 1, 2018 Picked up a few Black Widow's last week. Are you just swimming them off the bottom for the deep fish? Thanks, Andy

Thanks, Andy i fish them by letting them go all the way to the bottom, get the blade started and then crank them along 6 or 7 cranks and then let the bait coast back to the bottom not drop it to the bottom and then crank some more and repeat. change up how fast you crank it every now and them. many times that sudden faster speed will trigger the bite. when you come over a tree limb, let it pendulum out of the tree not drop off the limb. there can be a learning curve to using this loose head design. bo
snagged in outlet 3 Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 Saw a guide weighing a real nice one across from the dam around 9:30 this morning. I was a ways off from him but it was big. Saw the guide drop his guys at the Chataeu later around 11. Hope he got a good tip. Seemed every point had a boat on it early this morning. merc1997 Bo 1
